great ideas from great moms!

Filed under: Uncategorized — vangrow @ 5:24 pm

As part of our new “blogging” adventure, we are hoping to inspire creativity!  Here is a great idea from one of our student’s moms for Christmas shopping!

“In an effort to be merry (and less humbug by getting it done early!!) this year I’ve decided to share my daughter’s love of art by making meaningful gifts for the holidays. We go into the pottery painting room each week after my daughter’s art class and she picks out a great ceramic item to decorate for a special family member or friend. So far, she’s done a coffee mug for “mimi”, a hand-print jewelry box for aunt “KC”, and a vase for “yaya”! It makes a fun afternoon outing for us and in return we get a great, affordable and personal holiday gift to give! Cooper is thrilled each week to get to work on her ‘presents’ and (BONUS) they will be one of the most special items everyone receives!”- Dana Q.

Dana also shared ANOTHER creative idea with me today.  Instead of reading her daughter books and showing her the pictures, she keeps the book to herself and asks her daughter to imagine what she is reading.  The example she gave was about a balloon that flew away…she will read the book and then ask Cooper questions like, “What color do you think the balloon was?” or “What did the tree that the balloon got stuck in look like?”  Today, all of our children’s toys are doing the imagining for them….creating zombies before our eyes.  What a wonderful idea Dana has about sparking some imagination in her sweet daughter’s mind.  LOVE IT!
