Van Grow Summer 2020
Spring Break, Summer, and a season of change for us.....
I don't know about you, but change has not always come easy for me. So, it comes as a surprise that Maarten and I are welcoming a big change into our life. After nearly 18 years at 3434 W. 7th Street, we will be moving out of the building at the end of June. If you are of the curious type, which I certainly understand, I am inclined to tell you exactly why this is happening. First and most importantly are the needs of our family. The schedule that we must keep does not meet the needs of our children and Mr Maarten and I both have aging parents that we need to be able to travel when called upon. We schedule Van Grow six months at a time, so this has become an impossible problem. The second reason is that Mr Maarten and I would like to have time to produce our own artwork. Truth be told, being a full time artist has never been an ambition for us. My passion to teach children has been my sole focus since my Sophomore year of college and Maarten was working as a Graphic Designer before Van Grow. But, as we talked about the scheduling problem, a little spark began to glow for this possibility and I am so inspired. I will be taking a six month sabbatical and will continue teaching private lessons in 2021. Mr Maarten will continue teaching off site, as well as private lessons.
We are beyond overwhelmed how the community has come to us consistently over the years. We can't thank you enough for supporting a space to be creative. We have absolutely loved every minute of teaching your children and are so honored that you trusted us to care for them.
For our students who are currently enrolled in our weekly classes, please know that we are as enthusiastic about this semester as we were the Fall of 2002. Our intent is to finish well. By the conclusion of the semester we hope to be able to guide you to your next art teacher, should you need our help. In May, we will have an art show to celebrate our semester!
Ok, now on to the Spring Break and Summer Camp schedule! The Spring Break schedule is available for registration here.
We will have 4 weeks of summer camps in June. Registration will open at 6 a.m. on Monday, February 24th. To help with your registration that morning, we suggest logging into your account and updating contact and payment info prior (make sure your preferred method of payment has a current expiration, etc...) to the 24th.
Gratefully yours,
Miss Hanna and Mr. Maarten
