Private Lessons

We have two instructors teaching Private Lessons on Saturdays.

Mr. Maarten is the co-owner of Van Grow.  Maarten decided to be an artist at age 7 and has never looked back.  He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Dordt College in Iowa in 1997.  He worked as a Typesetter for a translation company in Ontario, Canada and has been at Van Grow since 2003.  Mr. Maarten typically teaches basic drawing instruction. He covers shading, sketching, and perspective as a starting point and then goes in the direction the student wants to go, in whichever medium they choose.

Owen Curtsinger is a comic artist and a recent transplant to Fort Worth.  He moved from Seattle in August 2017.  You can learn more about Owen on his website, www.owencurtsinger.com.  Owen teaches basic drawing instruction, but is open to other media as well.

Their class availability is on our online registration page under both the Semester and Drop In schedules.
You can book an instructor for a series of classes during the
Fall semester (September - December) or Spring semester (January-May). Alternatively, you can book individual spots if they are available.  Once someone books a semester slot, it will be immediately removed from the Drop In schedule, and appear as FULL.
